Yesterday I went shopping with Susanna. I think we got a little carried away with the fact that we had money to spend and there were no parents around! We bought Sunless tanning crap and hair dye! I dyed my hair this morning, and as far as I can tell, it looks great! I just hope my parents don't notice a big change! The tan stuff worked too, but in some spots I have big brown spots that look like dirt! oops! I have to call my cousin Sarah today, to find out some information about Friday. I am so excited! Friday is the Relay for Life Cancer Walk! and even though my knee is screwed up, I still intend to walk!

Cancer has been a major part of my life and my family's life. A friend of mine and best friend of my cousin's, died of cancer when she was only 14. My aunt, Mary, had cancer in 1996 and now has it again in 1999. Tomorrow she has chemo and I hope that all goes well. I also signed up to be a Neighborhood guide, and am waiting patiently to find out about that. Hopefully it is good news! I was talking to my little friend the other day, and she asked me why people died. I didn't know what to say, so I said, Remember in Sunday School you learned that God lives in heaven with angels? And she said yes, so I said, Well, God wanted to have more angels come live with him, so he took people away from us to live with him. I got a phone call last night, and found out that her little friend died of cancer, and because of what I said, she was happy! It is helping her get through this, so I feel good!

But WHY do people die? Does God want to have more angels live with him? Does he want to take the angels here among us up to where they feel no more pain? Its so confusing at times, and yet in other ways, its easy to understand. Here is an excerpt from something my aunt wrote:

Hope... a gift all survivors carry... an anchor to our souls. Challenge by cabncer, it was the child-like faith and trust that I survived. Through "everday angels" God delivered endless messages of hope. May you seel and find the hope that is in Him.

How true that is, and yet how many times do we look for the "hidden halos" in our everyday life. Each day is a new one filled with promise. Live each day in God as if it were your last here on earth. Search for the hidden halos. Don't take life forgranted, for one day it might not be there anymore.
